The Henna Artist to be featured in book discussion

St. Marys Community Public Library is featuring The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi in a book discussion on Thursday, May 12, 2022. We will meet from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the library meeting room. Books are available at the library to check out and read prior to our discussion.

It’s the 1950s in India, and seventeen-year-old Lakshmi escapes her arranged and abusive marriage to create an independent life alone, with secrets she cannot share in her new existence. But one day her husband tracks her down, and with him is a sister she never knew she had. Lakshmi’s carefully created world will not remain the same.

Join us for a dazzling look at India—and follow Lakshmi’s struggle for fulfillment in a challenging time and place. Check out a copy of The Henna Artist at the library for reading prior to our discussion.
